In 1995, a group of devoted, dog-loving North Hastings citizens formed the Highland Animal Relief Team (HART). Based on the precept that all animals deserve to be treated humanely and with respect, they focused their attention on the abused and abandoned dogs in the Bancroft area. Thanks to the commitment of so many and their devotion to our cause, HART has continued to grow in numbers, in strength, and in purpose. Rescue by rescue. Success after success.
HART has been a registered charity in good standing since 1996 and serves a region of 13 municipalities that spans 20,000 square kilometers. Working together with local pounds and other Ontario rescue groups enables us to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home more dogs than our own limited resources would otherwise allow.
